Extracting XYZ Data from GIS

I have some GIS files and am able to extract masspoints, contour, and breakline shapefiles. The orgiinal data is lidar. I can read the contour shapefile into FLO2D but when I go to interpolate elevations, the model can not find any elevation data. How do I extract XYZ points from the GIS files?
