Fill a Reservoir

To simulate a filled reservoir in FLO-2D, make a reservoir element in the INFLOW.DAT file. In the GDS simply right click any element within the boundary of the reservoir and click 'Reservoir Water Elevation for Element ****'. Then enter the water surface elevation of the reservoir and click OK. Once the model is executed, the FLO-2D will search for all grid elements contiguous to the element selected and give them an initial depth based on the water surface elevation that was specified. That’s how to fill a pond, detention basin, reservoir. To test the reservoir for leaks (elements that allow the water surface to extend beyond the reservoir boundary) just run the model for .01 hours and view the max depth results in Mapper. The plot should be a single water surface elevation for each grid element within the reservoir area.
