"Interopolate from Multiple Elevation Files" Option - Overlapping flt files
-
I have used this oprion to assign elvations from multiple overlapping binary flt grids. GDS seems to be assigning the elevations correctly and overlapping doesnot seem to create any problem. Is this an valid assumption?. what would you recommend?
Thank you so much

You can use overlapping binary fit grids. There isn't a problem with this because each point is considered in the interpolation calculation regardless of which file it comes from. What you don't want to do is overlap baseline elevation with design elevation. For example, you don't want to load LiDAR data for a baseline elevation and then load the raised elevation of a proposed subdivision on top of that.

Thank you, Karen. Does this mean that the elevations in the overlapping areas are not double counted in assigning grid elevation values?. I just want to alleviate the concern that overlapping areas might introduce a bias in elevation calculation.
Thank you

It's pretty simple. If there are multiple points with the exact xyz only one will be used. If there are multiple points with the same xy and a different z the highest elevation will be used.
