What computer system should I use with FLO-2D???

FLO-2D will run on Windows XP, Vista and 7 with a 32-bit or 64-bit OS. We recommend that you purchase a 64-bit system with at least 4 processor cores. Processor speed is a very important consideration. The Intel(R) Core(TM) processor has shown remarkably faster run-time speeds over less efficient processors.
For very large projects, gaming computers have proven to be effective at decreasing the total simulation time. They typically have the best computing processors and graphical processors.
We’ve also seen an decrease in simulation time by turning off hyper-threading.

I use a computer with 8 MB RAM, 4 Intel Core 2.5 GHz processors. I have a 64-Bit OS. My graphical processor is kind of slow and that makes the GDS screen refresh time a bit longer than I'd like. This computer is not the fastest but it works quite well. If you plan to make models in excess of 250,000 grid elements and large hydrographs, I suggest you go with a gaming computer.
